Nirvik Singh

 

Nirvik is a marketing and communication industry veteran and has been in the business for over 28 years. He is currently Chairman & CEO of Grey Group Asia Pacific Middle East and Africa.  

He began his career with Lipton India, a Unilever company. Subsequently, he joined Trikaya Advertising( later became Grey Group India) as head of the Kolkata office at age 26. Swiftly, the agency grew to become the city’s second largest, producing some of India’s most ground breaking campaigns, and winning Agency of the Year four consecutive times.

He then became the head of Grey Group India at 33 and led its transformation. Under his leadership, Grey Group India became a total communications company and extended its reach to beyond Mumbai and Kolkata to Ahmedabad, Bangalore, New Delhi and Chennai. Today, it is one of the top agencies in India and its re-engineering is a B-school case study. Nirvik became Chief Operating Officer of Grey South Asia in 1997, expanding the network’s reach to Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

In his role as Chairman & CEO, Grey Group AMEA, he has been credited with expanding Grey’s offerings in the region. His highly-regarded business acumen has led to numerous acquisitions by the Grey network including; RC&M (Rural Communications & Marketing services) in India, Yolk (Interactive & Digital media network) in Singapore, DPI Shopper Marketing in HKG), Star Echo (Marketing Services) and ArtM (Integrated Communications) in China, Vinyl-I (Technology Creative Digital company) in South Korea and nudeJEH (Advertising & Digital agency) in Thailand and hug digital (360 Digital Agency) in Dubai, amongst others. He has also expanded the geographic footprint of the company by establishing Grey’s presence in Vietnam, Nigeria and Ghana. In 2017, under his leadership, Grey Singapore launched Grey Adventures. The agency opened up its space to startups with complementary skills from fields like data, creative tech, ad tech, marketing tech, and e-commerce to move in, collaborate, Innovate and operate from the Grey Group premises.   

The Internationalist nominated him onto their 2014 Agency Innovators’ list and the Advertising Club Calcutta inducted him to their “Hall of Fame” in honour of his contribution to the advertising industry in India. Business Today, one of India’s leading business magazines, named Nirvik as one of 25 young rising stars in India and Media Magazine in Hong Kong named him ‘Agency Head of the Year’. He has been awarded India’s Bharat Nirman Rattan Award for outstanding individual achievements and distinguished services by the National Integration and Economic Council. In January 2018, he was awarded India’s ‘Hind Rattan Award’ for influence and service to India by a Non Resident Indian.

He often contributes to various publications including The Business Times (Singapore), The Economic Times (India), and Business Standard. He has been featured on the BBC, CNBC Asia as well as profiled in The Wall Street Journal, and numerous lifestyle publications such as PRESTIGE, Portfolio Magazine, The Business Standard and August Man.

Nirvik is a regular speaker at various seminars and hosts the Global Asian Achiever session at Spikes Asia annually. He has served as juror at Cannes Lions, Global Effies and the Asian Marketing Effectiveness Awards, and was part of the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games organising committee.  He is a board member of India’s leading retail company, Shoppers Stop Ltd as well as one of India’s largest apparel companies, Raymond Apparel Ltd.
