Hor Gar Yin

Mr Hor Gar Yin assumed the appointment of Deputy Chief Executive (Operations) on 1 Jan 2011.  Prior to this, he was Director (Air Systems) of the Defence Science and Technology Agency from July 2010 to March 2011.  From 2007 to 2010, he was the Head of Defence Technology Office (United States).     Gar Yin graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical Engineering) in 1984.  In 1991, he obtained his Masters of Science (Electrical Engineering) degree from the same university.   
 
Gar Yin started his career in 1984 with the Air Logistics Department, Republic of Singapore Air Force as a Defence Engineering and Scientific Officer.  He held various appointments in Defence Materiel Organisation, Defence Science and Technology Agency and the Ministry of Defence.   
 
Gar Yin won the Defence Technology Prize (Team) twice; one as a member of the A4 Super Skyhawk project in 1991 and the other as the leader of the F5 Upgrade Programme team in 1999. He was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Bronze) in 2001 and the Public Administration Medal (Silver) in 2008.
